Fantastic Cheese!!!

Well, today was very eventful!  I got up this morning with no voice but so ready to purchase my tickets for the Rascal Flatts concert coming this Fall.  For a music teacher, I haven't been to a concert in FOREVER!!  I am so excited.  I am going with a teacher-friend of mine and I am extremely excited about this concert.  I LOVE Rascal Flatts music!!      (I'm a wee-bit excited....can you tell?)

This evening, my friend, Beth, came over and took me to a restaurant called "El Maguey" and ....ohmygoodness.....their cheese sauce is simply fantastic!!!!!  I mean.......OHMY! :-)  She calls it "love."  heheh

I must also comment that the e-mails that have started going back and forth between my Miniwanca family this last month....it is MAKING ME SMILE!!!!

YAY for connections!!! :-)

Standing the Test of Time...

If you want to talk about a great "smiling" moment...it is when I get an e-mail from someone I have kept in touch with 30 years!  It doesn't really seem possible but, my former "next-door-neighbor" and I have kept in touch with 30 years now.

How in the world is that possible??!??   It makes me smile and *giggle* at the same time.

He has moved from state to state (way more than I care to try to remember....) and is now married with 2 kids.  We don't ALWAYS write or keep in touch but, it has been every once in a while that we just "catch-up" for a little bit to make sure each other is doing alright.

If you ask me....that's pretty awesome! :-)

I wish that everyone can have a friendship like that ....one that truly stands the test of time.  As his wife reminded....30 years.   (okay okay....we're NOT old.....we're better)

Actually, I wish that everyone can have many friendships that stand that test of time....go....reconnect!!!!  :-)

Keeping in Touch ...and keeping my promise!

I am keeping my promises and boy does it feel good! :-)  We took the kids this weekend (Labor Day weekend) to go see their little sister.  My friend, Hannah, adopted their little sister almost a year before we went for our son and daughter.

We planned on going to see her and it was a WONDERFUL weekend!  We had a great time ...although it always seems too short.

In addition to that - we had the opportunity to stop and see one of my long-time friends from Leadership Conference at Miniwanca.  I haven't seen him in years and he met us for lunch as we were driving into Atlanta! :-)  That was great!  He hasn't changed much except that he is a husband, father, and Physics teacher. :-)   Funny....I always thought he would be teaching philosophy.

To make great things even better...I had gotten back in contact with a friend from high school who always knew how to make me smile and laugh.  We got back in touch a few months ago and found that he has continued to pursue his successful path in the company of a beautiful wife....all in Atlanta! :-)   So, who do you think came to the Labor Day weekend BBQ at my friend's house on Sunday?  My friend!

How perfect could one weekend get? :-)

I am VERY hopeful that this year is going to be one I will not soon forget....

Making Connections Happen...

Today we decided to "bundle" our DSL and phone service so that we receive exactly what we currently have plus unlimited long distance and local calls for almost 30% less than what we currently pay.  YAY!  I love bargains.

So..... we then decided to upgrade our satellite service for HD programming and while we were at it - add 4 Russian channels for the kids to reconnect with some cultural programming.  While we are thinking about "connections" ...it is also important to help the kids maintain and regain connections.  I'm very excited about the thought of being able to watch some Russian programming with the kids.  (Although I am perfectly positive that I won't really remember much of what they are saying...)

The Russian channels will include one that is "Retro" programming, one for Music, one for movies, and one for news, sports, and current events.

It will be interesting to see what this year has to offer. :-)

Connections...

It is strange that as I grow older ...connections become that much more important.  I have reconnected with people from High School and elementary school in the past 6 months.  I am more interested in getting in contact with friends.  I guess I have found that it is so important to make sure that people understand and know what an impact they have had in your life.

This journal is about posting the thoughts that rumble around in my head all the time but sometimes don't get to live outside my head because there is "not enough time to share them."

This is a journal of gratitude for what I have in the way of friends, family, and special hugs from God that occur in my daily life.

I hope we can all spend time writing down what we are thankful for and not always what we want or don't have.
